Bush
said this today in his weekly radio address (it's the newest GOP talking point):
"Those who refuse to give this plan a chance to work have an obligation to offer an alternative that has a better chance for success."
What?
Dear Mr. Preznit:
I think there are many who oppose your escalation who have offered many, many specific and detailed plans that are alternatives to yours. There's Joe Biden's partition plan, John Murtha's redeploy plan, Peter Gailbraith's partition and redeploy plan, there's Cindy Sheehan's get out now plan, among others. Oh. And there's that little teeny tiny plan put forth by the Hamilton-Baker commission, a group of elder statesmen that
you asked to look into your mess
and give you a plan. You know the one. The one you now are completely ignoring?
But of course, if you are demanding a plan while keeping the definition of "success" pretty close to your vest, then you've made it impossible to be taken seriously. But then, that wouldn't be unusual for your and your politics, now would it? Mr. Preznit, success as you likely define it is impossible in Iraq. We're now looking at the least bad option. Get used to it. Soon. Those who's necks are on the line would seriously appreciate it.
Sincerely
Greyhair
