The Other Raid
I mentioned yesterday a bit about the U.S. raid on the Iranian embassy in northern Iraq. I also speculated that the Kurds, who thus far have been buddies, might not look too kindly on American military operations in "their country". Turns out I was right:
The Post goes high with a little context and gets word from U.S. officials that it is all part of "a new U.S. intelligence and military operation launched last month against Iran." The paper also mentions there were actually two raids yesterday, not one. The other raid took place at the Irbil airport, where U.S. troops tried to detain people but were stopped by Kurdish forces.
Only heard this mentioned on one newscast last night. Hey, why not piss off the only regional friends you have?
