One of the hallmarks of the great eyeraq adventure has been how the Americans have been routinely bamboozeled by the various Iraqi's, and most acutely the Shiites. It started with Chalabi, but it continues today.
Does everybody see how this works? We tell the Shiite government that it's imperative to "ease sectarian tensions," and Team Shiite comes up with a plan for Kurds and Americans to fight Sunnis. Uh, if the Kurds show up, that is.
Apparently the "plan for victory" is to use the Kurdish militia with the U.S. military to fight Sunni's. Anyone with half a brain knows that if you're even going to try and fight in the middle of a civil war, you have to go after both sides. But apparently the U.S. has been sold a bill-of-goods by the Shiites that the Sunni neighborhoods are first on the agenda. Given our acumen in Iraq you've gotta wonder if the White House would send money to Nigeria to help retrieve those gazillions of dollars in a Swiss Bank account.

So what happens? The Kurds no-show and the U.S. joins the Shiites in fighting the Sunni's. And as in the past, the U.S. credibility goes further down the drain, we fuel further sectarian violence and regional tension, and the stalemate continues.

And so it goes .......
