Tim Phelps of Newsday writes an editorial today that I think is right on. He's one of the few commentators to outline the case for why Iraq was doomed to fail, even without the Bush incompetence.
Not to let Bush off the hook because the American's have made a mess in Iraq, but I think Phelps is right on. The disaster in Iraq was destined to occur, and play out regardless of the occupation, from seeds planted many years ago during colonial rule by Britain. It's why the best thing the U.S. can do is get out of the way and let it finish.
