Too bad someone with the foreign affairs expertise like former SFRC chairman Fulbright to excoriate the Bush administration over its lies and deceits would be nice to have around (sans the feet of clay over civil rights). Perhaps his spirit could be channeled somehow. Nah, every Senator seems to have feet of clay without the heart of iron. Not much has changed from the witchhunt atmosphere of the 50s and 60s, unfortunately.

Fulbright caved on civil rights to keep his seat in the Senate and Dems cave over the Iraq war to appeal to a more conservative electorate. What the hell has to happen, another Depression to show the true colors of the self-righteous GOP?

I think that's exactly what it will take. Some sort of national catastrophy to make people realize that they are living in a bubble right now.
