Can it get much clearer? Any way you cut it (pun intended), the deficits will be structurally built into the budget unless tax cuts are repealed. I don't care what SecTres. Snow says, or what any Republican hack says. The tax cuts have been too profound to balance the budget, even with heavy cuts in spending.
There's no way to interpret the Republicans position on this other than as an implementation of the "
starve the beast" philosophy, which quite simply doesn't work. Why? Because history has shown that no matter which party is in control, Congress will simply
not cut spending.
