Escalating Escalation
More troops going to war:
The Washington Post leads its print edition with news that President Bush agreed yesterday to send 8,200 more troops to Iraq and Afghanistan. This increase comes in addition to the 21,500 new troops Bush decided to send to Iraq in January and may stoke fears that the so-called temporary surge will last longer than was promised.
This is no surprise .... unfortunately. And don't be surprised if there's not a call for more around June or so. Bush will continue to occupy and escalate our involvement until he is stopped. All the nutbars are claiming "it's improving", but frankly I'm not seeing it. Like predicted, the violence is simply moving to other areas with the daily bombing attack somewhere in Baghdad.
As mortar shells fell nearby, representatives from Iraq's neighboring nations, the U.N. Security Council's five permanent member states, and three international organizations discussed various ways to end sectarian violence in Iraq.
This ... is ... crazy.
