PBS's Frontline is the only TeeVee outlet that is really doing any serious investigative journalism.

Period.

I don't always agree with what they find, but you cannot dispute that they take the time and money to do a thorough job of whatever they investigate and air.

Last night they aired a report on the Taliban in Pakistan. It was a devastatingly depressing report on the state of the GWOT in Afghanistan and included detailed interviews/information about how Pakistan is caught between a really big rock, and a solid hard place. After watching, the usually much opinonated moi', had no suggestions for a solution. The situation is so degraded that you have to conclude that it's virtually inevitable for both Pakistan and Afghanistan to ultimately become nuclear armed Islamic fundamentalist states.

I won't review the entire program. As usual, the Frontline site has extensive additional materials as well as the original program available for online viewing. Take a moment and investigate, but be sure you have a sedative handy. You'll need it.
