Consigliere
Looks like the Bush consigliere is being brought in to clean up yet another Bush mess:
A commission formed to assess the Iraq war and recommend a new course has ruled out the prospect of victory for America, according to draft policy options shared with The New York Sun by commission officials.

Currently, the 10-member commission — headed by former secretary of state for President George H.W. Bush, James Baker — is considering two option papers, “Stability First” and “Redeploy and Contain,” both of which rule out any prospect of making Iraq a stable democracy in the near term.
If the commission does, indeed, come in with something that baby Bush has been opposing, like redeploy, it should be very very interesting to watch the White House reaction. A GW v. Baker matchup would be world class entertainment.

The commission will not officially release it's report until after the election. My guess is that Bush will be quacking so badly by then, it won't matter too much what he thinks. Also don't be surprised if Rummy is gone after the election as well. This may well be the price of getting Democrats on board in a "bipartisan" commission report.
