Can You Hear Me Now?
This is an old story. But more keeps ooozing out about the extent of the program of domestic spying by the Bush administration.

Remember. The FISA law is very lax as it is. Of all government requests for wire-tapping warrants over the past years, only five were declined. And even those five were eventually granted after some changes. This makes one wonder, why would the administration even want to circumvent FISA?
WASHINGTON, Oct. 12 — Internal military documents released Thursday provided new details about the Defense Department’s collection of information on demonstrations nationwide last year by students, Quakers and others opposed to the Iraq war.

The documents, obtained by the American Civil Liberties Union under a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit, show, for instance, that military officials labeled as “potential terrorist activity” events like a “Stop the War Now” rally in Akron, Ohio, in March 2005.

The Defense Department acknowledged last year that its analysts had maintained records on war protests in an internal database past the 90 days its guidelines allowed, and even after it was determined there was no threat.
There really is only one explanation for circumventing FISA. The government and military are spying on people that they know wouldn't be approved by FISA. And trust me, in the coming years, it will be revealed that the amount of spying on U.S. citizens that has gone on since 911 is much more extensive than anyone currently imagines.

As I peruse the viewing statistics on this blog, it's not uncommon to run across an I.P. address of a government agency in Washington D.C., usually referred from a search engine. While I know our writing here is of national significance, I have my doubts that perhaps one in every fifty page views is from a devoted progressive working in the Federal government.

I often wonder what would be happening if my name was Abu-Greyhair instead of just greyhair ......

Right on!!!!!

They managed to hide all that in the "Don't you think we should listen into terrorists" rhetoric.

Good politics, false argument.
