Indeed he was. And a lot of us knew it at the time. Now time has made it abundantly clear to all.
This is a problem for progressives. By their very nature, they tend to be looking forward beyond conventional wisdom. Sometimes they're wrong. Often they are right. You can easily name other politicians who were ahead of their time (McGovern, Gore?) who did not do well in the vote count. Can the same thing be said of conservative pols? It's small solice to be right after losing though.
