Tepid
Digby has a post up today skewering the "liberal" Joe Klein ..... again ..... still. Klein deserves every bit of it has he represents a portion of "liberals" of the likes of Joe Lieberman and others who have gone so far to the right that the mushy middle looks like liberalism. Policy positions from these folks have the same impact as warm spit.

But this Digby quote particularly caught me:
When people say they don't understand what Democrats stand for, it's Joe Klein they are thinking of. Sadly, he and others like him speak for us in the media. That's what's killing us.
That is exactly right. It's the Joe Kleins's and Joe Lieberman's of the world that represent "liberal" values in the media. And these guys are far from liberal.

And it is killing us.

All of us.

The fight to get real liberals into the mainstream media is an ongoing yet crucial battle. Air America is a good start, but real liberals need to penetrate the likes of Meat the Press, This Week, and the general punditry class in order to be conventional. That's why writing complaint letters and emails to media outlets is so crucial, along with voting with you remote control.

Digby concludes the post with this:
That goes both ways. Guys like Klein give liberalism a bad name in my mind --- meaningless, mushy, split-the-baby dreck with no intellectual consistency except an arrogant belief that those who muddy their hands in the daily dog-eat-dog of a partisan era we didn't create are uncouth for fighting to survive. Klein's ineffectual political style hasn't been relevant for quite some time; it's just that nobody's called him on it until now.
Amen.
