Someone Call The Porter
Well, no blockbuster scandal this morning. The papers essentially say Goss was removed for incompetence. I don't buy that. I think there's more to come. Being incompetent is a part of the job description of anyone in the Bush administration, and political head butting doesn't result in a last minute cancelling of the President's scheduled events to announce a sudden resignation.

No matter why Goss resigned, he did accomplish what the President wanted. The CIA is gutted, rudderless, losing veterans like crazy and essentially on life support. Rummy/Cheney got what they wanted with Goss's help.

Billmon has the best analysis I've read thus far on the whole situation, essentially pointing out that Goss did what was expected, dismantled the civilian intelligence community.

Mission Accomplished! Heckuva job Porter, heckava job.
