Well, looks like the
Kos wing of the Democratic party won one.
Ironically, Markos made his bones as an outsider being critical of the Democratic
establishment/consultancy. Now he's part of it. His recollection of the events leading to the Hackett/Sherrod debacle
certainly don't match mine.
And I was there, blogging on it.But don't believe me.
Check out Hackett words. He said way back then that if he didn't run for Senate, he quit politics. Looks to me like he's quit politics. He also refuses to undermine the other Dems running against Schmidt despite a good chance he could win and please the hell out of the Democratic establishment.
You gonna believe Kos or Hackett?
Seems to me that
a principled and completely honest individual just can't make it in politics. It's a sad reality that we demand politicians to be too-cute-by-half and pandering to our wants and needs. As a result, we get too-cute-by-half, pandering people in government. I don't think this is anything new. But it's awfully depressing when it smacks you in the face a la Paul Hackett.
I'm sure Sherrod Brown will run a slick campaign and likely beat Mike DeWine. No one ever said that Brown was terrible. But due to the "business as usual" rough and tumble life in politics, we may never see Paul Hackett committ to public service again.
Can you blame him? I sure as hell wouldn't run ......
Oh. And since Sherrod Brown is
so well funded and
so well organized, he won't be needing any money from me ......
