Inflation History

I thought this chart, (click to enlarge) via The Big Picture, was fasinating. Looks a little like modern economics is inflation bound?

President Andrew Jackson paid off the national debt and dissolved the Federal Reserve's equivilent around 1814. Look at what happened to the economy at that time.
