Ignoring Africa

Why is this not being mentioned in the mainstream media?

Eastern and Horn of Africa countries are in the grip of famine, a report by the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent released yesterday, said.
About 11 million people are facing serious food shortage due to drought and conflicts, the charity reports.
"Food shortages are particularly grave in Somalia, eastern Kenya, south-eastern Ethiopia and Djibouti," the federation said.

You would think the possibility of millions of people starving would merit one story, even if it had to crowd out a story about the Jerry Springer show.
