Somethings Up
Something is up.

First, there's the establishment of Talibanistan by the Pakistani's.

Now we have the Senate Majority leader suggesting detente with the Taliban:
U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist said Monday that the Afghan guerrilla war can never be won militarily and called for efforts to bring the Taliban and their supporters into the Afghan government. The Tennessee Republican said he had learned from briefings that Taliban fighters were too numerous and had too much popular support to be defeated by military means.
Whaaaaaa?

These Republicans are so crazy you can't keep up with their position changes. What next, hire bin Laden as an advisor for the TSA (Transportation Safety Administration)?

Then there's this:
British troops battling the Taliban are to withdraw from one of the most dangerous areas of Afghanistan after agreeing a secret deal with the local people . . . It has now been agreed the troops will quietly pull out of Musa Qala in return for the Taliban doing the same.
Why have these guys all the sudden decided that the Taliban can't be beat? Billmon supposes it's preparation to calm Afghanistan ahead of an Iran attack. That sounds about right. But the "cut n' run" label's gonna be a bit more difficult to apply.

We have negotiated with the Taliban in the past. Paul Sperry's book Crude Politics tells all about bringing a Taliban delegation here, wining and dining them, showing them around a university campus.
Whores deal with whoever has the money and/or power.
