I pretty much could just put that title up everyday and not do much personal blogging.
But I won't.
:)
Digby comments today on a growing meme. Bush has been trotting around the country comparing the GWOT to Pearl Harbor, WWII and the Cold War. Digby, correctly in my opinon, writes about how the comparison is a marriage between Rove/Bush's political needs and baby boomers envy of having some sort of legacy like "The Greatest Generation" and WWII. Go read the whole thing, it's quite good.
What I want to add is the same thing being said all over the blogosphere. If Iraq and the GWOT are such epic existential battles, why have we only committed 140,000 volunteer troops to this battle with virtually no sacrifice at home?
As a good therapist, let me point out a commonly repeated mantra in therapy. When observing someone and trying to judge their credibility, should you listen to their words or watch their behavior to sort out the truth?
After Pearl Harbor the whole country mobilized to defeat Germany and Japan. After 9-II most Americans tuned out
and went shopping.
WW II was a success, if that's the right word for any war.
Bush's wars have been a flop.
